Vienna - Austria: 7:00pm Rossinimania - The 1st concert of the "lost & found" series with young Japanese artists @ Loos-rooms in the music department of the Vienna City Library On 13th November, 2018 it is the 150th anniversary of Gioachino Rossini’s death. From the middle of the second decade of the 19th century, his operas stirred an unprecedented level of enthusiasm throughout Europe. The virtuosity, which Rossini demanded from his singers, were subsequently transferred to the field of the instrumental music. The symbiosis of the interminable demand for well-known pieces of the master on the one hand, and the desire of artists for more daring technical brilliant performance on the other hand produced a rich repertoire of virtuosic variations on themes of Rossini, which became a good business for the music publishers in the past. Large number of references can be found in the music department of the Vienna City Library. A selection of them will be performed in the first concert of the new "lost & found" series, which is organized by Vienna City Library in corporation with the Japanese Embassy in Vienna, the Japanese Society in Austria and the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK).
